1. Have you seen Avatar? It was AMAZING! I *really* liked it and am super excited to see it again. And that is saying a lot considering I'm pretty ADD when it comes to sitting down to watch a movie. And this movie is NOT a short one. I saw it in IMAX 3D, and it was pretty incredible. The 3D-age induced a massive headache by the end of the nearly 3 hour film. Looking forward to seeing it again, not in 3D.
2. I just finished the book "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert. I have seen the book pretty much everywhere over the past year or two. Hell, there is even a movie coming out starring Julia Roberts as Liz Gilbert. I figured I should get back in to reading by taking on this light-ish read. Surprisingly, my favorite section of the book was the "Pray" portion. I'd have to go in to great detail to describe why I enjoyed this section the best, not for this blog post. Next book on deck? Ken Follett's "The Pillars of the Earth". Highly recommended by the two people in my my life that read more than anyone else I know, my Dad and Heather.
3. I'm really excited about the CW's newest show, "Life Unexpected". The first two episodes have been decent, looking forward to seeing where things go with the show.
4. Another show I'm excited about? True Blood: Season 3. Especially after reading this short article. I'm down with seeing more of Sam Merlotte!
4. No I will not follow you on Twitter. I'm done. I did the MySpace thing a few years back, recently cancelled my account because I hadn't logged on in like a year. I'm on Facebook. Do I really need to be on Twitter? Doubtful. Get this--my employer is on Twitter. What the heck are they "tweeting" about? Someone tell me what is awesome about Twitter, my ears are wide open.
5. My mom leaves the best messages on my voicemail. They go a little like this...."Milooooooooo!! Miloooooooooo!! This is your Grandma. Tell your mom I called. Miloooooooooo!!" The best part about the messages? I have voicemail, not an answering machine. Milo doesn't hear the messages.....ever. I just recently broke the news to her after about the 7th voicemail message of her thinking that Milo can actually hear her when she's leaving a message. The funny thing is, I bet she'll continue to leave messages for Milo. She loves her chubby canine grandson.
6. I think Frank is jealous of Milo and I going for walks. The other day I opened the door for Milo to go outside and without even a moment of hesitation, Frank shot out the front door and into the yard. I was able to grab him, unfortunately by his tail, and carry him back in to the house. Needless to say, it was a traumatic 4 seconds of my existence. I wish I wasn't such a freak when it comes to my fluffy, mostly black and a little white, guy getting outside. I have nightmares about Frank getting lost, no joke people, nightmares.
7. I'm obsessed with Muse. Tonight I made a run to Sonic Boom and bought their album "The Resistance". Good stuff. When I saw them play at 107.7's Deck the Hall Ball in December, one of the new songs that they played that I really loved was United States of Eurasia / Collateral Damage (Excerpt from Nocturne in E-Flat, Op. 9 No. 2).....yeah, that is a mouthful. Anyway, looking forward to diving in to that album.
8. So I've also been on a Tom Petty kick for like months. Just borrowed the album "Wildflowers" from Helen, and I have been listening to it in the car for DAYS. Can't get enough of it. You Don't Know How It Feels, You Wreck Me, and It's Good to be King are some faves.
9. A couple endearing Milo moments from the past week......1. At the dog park, when the other dogs would run 100mph past him and try and rough house with him, guess who he would run towards and rub up next to? Me. That's right folks, Milo knows I'm his person. When shit goes sideways, he knows I have his back. Almost brought a tear to my eye......2. On Sunday Milo decided he wanted to be a lap dog. He climbed up on the couch while I was watching tv and decided to park his 65lb body on my chest. It was adorable, so I let it happen.
10. I've got the scrap bug, big time. I'm meeting up with some scrap comrades in February for some arts n' crafts time. Watch out for some scrap pages in the next few weeks. I'll post.

Milo's Big Day Out: The Beach!
After the dog park, Milo and I made our way down the hill to the beach. This was our maiden voyage together to the beach. I think Milo may have enjoyed the beach even more than the dog park. He seems to prefer people to other dogs, so the beach was definitely more entertaining for him in that regard. Love this photo of him mid-step on the path over to the beach.
I would imagine that the water was super cold, but that didn't stop Milo from dipping his toes in to start. There was even a guy swimming in the Sound, with flippers and a wet suit. Craziness.
Milo must have been inspired by said swimmer, because he decided to go in a little deeper. This photo doesn't even show how deep he actually went. At the deepest, his ears were almost entirely immersed. Watch out Michael Phelps, we've got a swimmer on our hands. Not exactly, but for a basset, I think Milo did a pretty great job in the water.
Milo's Big Day Out: Dog Park!
As I write this, chillin' out listening to Kenny Loggins, Milo is laying at my feet, crashed out like I've never seen him before. Snoring? Oh yes, he's sawing logs. He's beat from a long afternoon of exploring two key Ballard locations for dogs. The first of which, featured in this post, is the dog park. You know the one, down by Golden Gardens. I always used to drive by that dog park, envious of all the dog owners with their dogs, running around having a great time.
This afternoon the sun peeked out of the Seattle skies, some of my favorite Seattle winter weather. Cold, but sunny. I decided to take advantage, and head out with my canine companion, Mr. Milo (haven't figured out a last name for this guy yet, sure he automatically gets my last name when visiting the vet, but for his non-vet life, he needs a fun last name. Frank "Fingers" Mahoney sure enjoys his name.....ok, tangent....). So Milo and I hopped in the wagon and made our way down the hill towards the beach. When we got there Milo's nose immediately hit the ground, sniffing all the wonderful dog smells. This photo is pretty much how he looked the entire time at the park.
Inside the park, there were about 10 or 12 dogs, some laying around, some rough playing. A couple ran at full speed past Milo and he nearly got knocked over. He's such an elderly little gent. It was like watching a pack of teenagers running around an old man with a walker. He enjoyed it though. He definitely did not partake in any horseplay, more like stood on the sidelines....sniffing.....
We walked slowly along the fence of the park, sniffing, for about 40 minutes. He would get all excited when new dogs and owners would enter the park. He decided to hang out by the entrance for awhile, like an elderly greeter at Wal-Mart. He was such a good boy, not even one growl or bark the entire time we were there. Just a lot of sniffing and drooling with excitement (or anxiety, not sure which:) )
I'd say the dog park was a total success. We'll definitely be going again when the sun starts to peek out on a more regular basis. I can't wait for spring! Milo's gonna be cruisin' the dog park, looking for a short stubby Betty White to call his own.
Lesson I learned at the dog park:
-Do not wear jeans that touch the ground because guess what? You're basically walking around in one giant pile of dog poo. Same goes of shoe choice. Noted.

Because I'm wearing them....and I just did!
Check out this awesome shirt Kyle got me during his last trip to New York City!! Purchased at the NBC store! Love it!
For those of you who are wondering why the hell I would be excited about a shirt advertising that I just shat a load in my drawers, watch the following SNL commercial parody. Absolutely one of my favorites of all time.
This commercial parody came out during the height of my career as an undergraduate at WWU. Lots of laughs with friends were had over that skit. I am amazed how those actors can keep a straight face, I would have totally lost it at "imagine this is a gallon of your feces..."
Thank you Kyle and SNL!!

This one is for you Kim!
Duuuuude!!! I stumbled across this picture on the internet while I was trying to find out what FTMFW meant. (For those curious, it means "for the mutha f*cking win"....). I'm a little disturbed. It feels all child pornographic for some reason.
I must say R. Pattz, Edward Cullen you are not, in this shot.

A dog and his bone......
While I was at Mud Bay tonight after work, I decided to get Milo a treat, a sun-dried bone. Little did I know that this inexpensive item would provide him with so much joy! Check out the picture below, he looks like he's about ready to take the bone down, Kobayashi style, love it.
I opened up its package, set it down in front of him, and it has been occupying his time ever since. I think he actually started falling asleep chewing on it at one point. Considering he sleeps about 20 hours a day, I wasn't at all surprised.
Make no mistake, Milo is not the sharpest tool in the shed. Sometimes, who am I kidding, most times, during his awake hours, he can be found staring at the floor, or at the wall directly in front of his face. I would pay money, seriously, to find out what this dog is thinking. He tried his hardest to bury the bone in the house. The length of the carpet prevented him from hiding anything from anyone, but he kept at it. It was actually really cute to watch.....he'd scrape at the carpet with his paw 3 or 4 times, then he'd set his bone down, then he'd scrape at the carpet in a motion that looked like he was pushing the carpet over the bone.
His paw looks strategically placed in the above shot, like the bone is a cigar. His nails are getting too long. Tomorrow he's getting groomed at Pet Daddy, a full service bath. What does that mean? A bath, nails clipped, anal glands expressed (ewww), ears cleaned (its about time, this guys ears are like a high school play curtain), and a brush out. I'm excited, he's going to look so adorable, all fluffy and clean. I hope he doesn't hate it.
Anyway, so that is the Milo update. This chubby bastard loves a bone. I'm having a blast getting to know this little man.
Milo says...."Don't think about touching my bone, woman!"

Merry Christmas 2009!!!
Remember when you were a kid and Christmas was all about the presents? I always remember going back to school after Christmas break and talking to all my friends about what we all got for Christmas. Whadja get? Whadja get? Am I the only one that remembers doing that? Do I remember any present I got when I was a kid other than my first camera in 9th grade? Absolutely not.
Here are some of the various items I was lucky enough to receive this year......
Edward Cullen fleece blanket, thank you New Jack Weenie / White Elephant Extravaganza 2009. Thank God I didn't open the box with the butt plug buried beneath the mound of creepy vintage inspired dolls. Ugh. And yes, Casey, he does resemble Sloth from Goonies in that picture. Actually, not even close. He's beautiful.
My cousin Fran made me the quilt below. She lives in Missouri, and made this quilt for me as a Thank You for the scrapbook I made her Mom and Dad for their wedding anniversary in June. Its kind of a patchwork denim quilt with plaid flannel backing. Totally love it because it is homemade and from the heart, the best kind of gift. And look at my Mom, she's so wee. Have I ever told you that she represents the Lollipop Guild?
Below you will find the bounty of gifts given by Gina and Paula. Good stuff! Can't wait to crack everything open and put them to use! Paula came through with the Dymo Caption Maker that has been on my Christmas list the last two years. And a gift card to World Market and some Bliss products! Love it! I've been super in to Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers lately, ever since I watched the 4 & 1/2 hour documentary Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers: Runnin' Down a Dream a few months ago. Tom Petty is a genius. Anyway, Gina got The Live Anthology, which I am totally stoked about. She also got me an awesome book, Seattle's Best Dive Bars, which I think I'm going to turn in to a fun activity for 2010. The activity will be something along the lines of how many of the dive bars can me and my friends hit up in 2010? Who's with me? Thanks for the awesome gifts Paula and Gina!
Carol has made me different Santa Claus inspired crafts every year for the past, probably, 16 years. Carol is the reason I have Christmas decorations other than ornaments for my Christmas tree. This year she made these two cuties, little bouncy snowmen. Thanks Carol for the many years of Santa, I always look forward to seeing what you have created for Christmas!
The past few holidays (birthdays, Christmas), I've asked for various kitchen items from my parents. This year they did not disappoint. I've been working on getting rid of my old, low budge knives, and switching them out for good quality knives. This Christmas my Mom and Dad helped me along in my quest to seem like an adult with these J.A. Henckels guys. A paring knife, and 8 everyday knives. And a Target gift card. Thanks Mom and Dad!!
Usually my favorite gifts of the year come from Chris and Mike. Chris does a bang up job picking out gifts. She'll go rogue every now and again, and it never disappoints. This year was no exception! Check out the sweet handmade flower pin! Love it! And awesome earrings from Fireworks, I love that store.
Earlier this month, Chris, Kim and I went to Urban Craft Uprising, which is, as described on the website, Seattle's largest indie craft show. Held the past two years at the Seattle Center. The past couple years Chris and I have used this craft show as a spring board to our Christmas shopping for eachother. We walk through the show together, taking note of what the other person likes, then split up and take on the show on our own, buying stuff for ourselves and eachother. It works out really well. This year I had my eye on this awesome scarf by Franken Scarf. I love their by-line....."Fire Bad, Scarf Good". I also got an awesome cookbook by Hungry Girl, can't wait to test out some guilt-free recipes!!
Okay, so my favorite gift of all this year is this necklace, made by MarKhed. I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but it is Seattle. And you know how I love this city. I can not wait to wear it.
So this year was a great year for gifts. But you know what? More importantly, 2009 was a great year for family, friends, pets, and the things that are really important in life. Possessions don't mean much compared to your family and friends. I thank my lucky stars everyday that I have my family.......

The Gooch!!!
I'll go all Gran Torino on yo' ass!!! So Wednesday morning I was running out of the house to make it to an appointment in the morning and guess what I found on my car? Some shady creep tagged my car!!! 5 times!!! Yeah, awesome. Check it out......
"Gucci" with a thick, black Sharpie marker all over my pristine Subaru. Across the hood, on the side door, on both side mirrors, and on my back window. WTF? Luckily it came off the back window and side mirrors really easily by just wiping them with a towel. The hood and side door? Another story.
I wish I would have immediately gone online and did some research on ways to get Sharpie tags off car paint. But I was totally in the moment and wanting to get this lameness off as fast as possible. I got some soap and warm water, and a soft sponge and started to put a little elbow grease into it, but only a little bit came off. Ugh. Then I thought about this ceramic top oven cleaner I have, and that took the Sharpie ink right off my car.....unfortunately it also took a little of the shine off of my car in those spots too. Bummer. You can't even really tell unless the sun is shining, but it still bums me out. My dad seems to think a nice wax job will bring the shine right back, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that will happen.
The irony of it all, and what actually made me laugh, *really* hard, about the whole ordeal is that Tuesday night I was watching the first episode of a HBO show called Summer Heights High. Hilarious, BTW, check it out. One of the characters is a punk kid, Jonah Takalua. He tags everything, and his tag is "Dicktation"......see below.
God, that is funny. While I was inside my warm little house, laughing my ass off about "dicktation", some punk was outside gucci-ing my car six ways to Sunday. God, it could have been soooo much worse. I'll take Gucci over Dicktation any day.

Oh yeah, if this happens to you, apparently the removal method of choice is a dry erase marker or hairspray. I guess the dry erase marker ink binds to the Sharpie ink, and it can easily be wiped off leaving no marks and taking no shine off the paint. Hairspray contains a ton of denatured alcohol, which also can be used to get rid of black ink. Guess what I own now? Yeah, dry erase markers and hairspray. Bring it you punks! Insert picture of me here shaking my dry erase marker fist in the general direction of the neighborhood.
