Those rainy days they ain't so bad when you're the King.....

Have I told you how much I'm obsessed with Kings of Leon? It is becoming somewhat of a problem. It's all I've been listening to for the past 6 months, and it has been nonstop since I saw them last weekend in BC. Lovin' this song, "Fans" off the album Because of the Times. Caleb's hair looks soooo much better short. Back to the rhythm, back to the beat of the radio.....

I miss you lady......

I miss you too, Frizz! So Frank and I have outgrown our tiny little 750 square foot house in Ballard. The big news as of late is the move to our new house, in Ballard of course! We are in the process of moving in to the new place, and have been for the past few weeks.
This past weekend, the landlord at my soon to be former residence wanted to have an open house. Much to Franks chagrin, the cat carrier came out and he had to make the short journey to the new place. So he's been living at the new house, while I've been staying at the old house because my bed is still here. I feel naked without him! I'm so used to him following me around like a dog, I miss my little mostly black, but a little white, shadow:( I visited him three times yesterday though, despite the fact that I had to work. Crazy cat lady? Indeed. I woke up early and went over to the new place before work and took a nap with him on the floor, then stopped by to say hello on my lunch break, then swung by to give him some goodnight snuggles on my way home from work.

I'm having the cable and internet set up tomorrow, so I think I'll start sleeping there soon, even if I have to sleep on the floor. I miss waking up in the middle of the night to find my little guy snuggled up at my side. I'll post some pictures of the new place after I get all settled in and unpacked.

I'd be a savage if I didn't miss this fur ball. Look at those toes? How could anyone not miss those furry little feet?

Rogers and Loggins

My iTunes downloading situation has reached ridiculous, but awesome, levels. This week I sprung for some interesting tracks. I went on a Kenny binge, if you will. As in Kenny Rogers and Kenny Loggins. Check out the following image I found on the internet. A compare and contrast image of Kenny Rogers pre-and-post face lift. He looks drastically different, no? I have to say, I prefer pre-surg KR, but what are you gonna do?

Kenny Loggins. When I think of Kenny Loggins, I think of three movies.....Footloose, Top Gun, and Caddyshack. A ganna nanna cut loose! I downloaded "I'm Alright (Theme from Caddyshack)", "This Is It", and "Whenever I Call You Friend"...duet with Stevie Nicks. I'm thinking I should also download "Danger Zone" just to be thorough.

"When Blogs Collide" or "There's A Whole Lotta Fishnet Up In This Bitch"

Kaijsa came in to town a few weeks ago, and luckily we managed to get together for drinks and debauchery. Kaijsa is an old friend of mine from The 'Ville, or Murderville for all you peeps in the know. We worked at my cousin's pharmacy together for a number of years, and have shared quite a few crazy stories. Some of my favorite memories involve hanging out at Hilton Pharmacy with Kaijsa and Melanie. Iced mochas, boy watching, small town America, you get the idea. Even though we are now considered grown ups, we still manage to have ridiculous amounts of fun when we get together. This visit included.
I met up with Kaijsa and her friend at King's Hardware in Ballard. One of my favorite watering holes. They have a peanut butter and bacon burger, 'nuf said. Granted, I've never had that burger, but it is an option. I like options. We probably annoyed Kaijsa's friend with all our stories of The 'Ville, and all the craziness involving people from our upbringing. We even managed to remember to story of the woman that came in to use the bathroom at the pharmacy and shat everywhere besides in the actual toilet. You don't forget stuff like that, you really don't. Apparently the women was shop lifting at Lamonts across the street and had such an adrenaline rush from the 5 finger discount experience that she couldn't control her bowels. Enter the Hilton Pharmacy customer bathroom. Thank god I wasn't the one who had to clean that craptastic mess up. I'm holding back a gag as I write this. Ugh.

King's Hardware burger.....yummmm...... With a pint of Manny's on the side. It was a good day.

After King's Hardware, we journeyed to Brouwer's in Fremont, another favorite. They have a huge selection of Belgian Ales. The bartenders are hot and know one exact shit ton of information regarding beer. Too bad I've never really liked Belgian Ales, too sweet. No, thank you.

Enter The Baranof. Little did we know that karaoke night at The 'Nof was going to be so incredibly entertaining. We met a busty brunette from Yelm that apparently travels all the way to The 'Nof for their kick ass karaoke night. She was wearing a white tub top dress and sang Mambo Number 5. The best part about it? Her 2&1/2 pack a day habit for the last 30 years has made her voice.....let's call it....'unique'.....

Here's a shot of me in the Ladies Room at The 'Nof. There isn't much to hide in the bathroom here. When you're hovering above the toilet you can see the person in the stall next to you in the mirror above the sinks. It really brings a feeling of intimacy to the whole human waste experience.

One of the best parts about The 'Nof is the signage at the bar. Warning: Bitch Bites (so true, that bartender lady is crusty, and she makes STIFF drinks. She's like the drink nazi, don't mess with her). And my absolute favorite sign: BEWARE, Poker Players and Loose Women. Noted. While sitting in the bar, one of Kaijsa and Patrick's friends commented: There's a whole lotta fishnet up in this bitch. And he didn't mean stockings. So true. There is, indeed, a lot of fishnet up in that bitch.

It was a fabulous visit with Kaijsa! I feel pretty lucky to have been able to fit in to her busy trip home. Next time, we'll hit up Laramie!! Mel, you in?

La Push, Baby. It's La Push.

Last week Casey and Kim went camping on the peninsula. One of their destinations? La Push. For all you Twilight fans out there, La Push was a location featured in the series. In the movie, Eric Choe says "La Push, baby. It's La Push.".....and Kim and I have been repeating that phrase for the last few weeks in preparation for her trip to the coast. While she was there, she picked me up this souvenir, how fitting...... Love it.
In other Twilight news, I couldn't resist picking up this pre-cut, pre-packaged awesomeness last time I was at Lasting Memories in Lynnwood. Looks like I need to make a trip out to Forks, Washington so I can come up with a scrap layout. There is also the Cullen Family crest in that shot for all of you who aren't all over Edward Cullen's tip. Oh, and I might as well let the cat out of the bag here, I just loaned Gina my copy of Twilight, so she'll be all wrapped up in this Edward business soon enough!! Can't wait for her to choose a side. Be warned Gina, if you choose Team Jacob, our 20 year friendship may get rocked:)
Since the next Twilight series movie, New Moon, isn't coming out for a few more months, I need some dead eye candy to hold my attention for the time being. Let me introduce you to Eric Northman, the ancient Nordic vampire in HBO's True Blood series (drop what you are doing, click on that link, click on "Characters", click on "Eric Northman", and finally click on "Watch"....you won't be disappointed!). In the first season, Eric has long hair which makes him look kinda cheesy, but so far in season two his hair is short and it compliments him well. Nic, quit rolling your eyes.
Who plays Eric Northman? Let me introduce you to Alexander Skarsgard. Swedish dreamboat extraordinaire. Hello lover. And I just found this out, he is in the video for Lady GaGa's song, Paparazzi. Good choice Lady, good choice.

How is your va-jay-jay?

As some of you have read in a past blog post, I love greeting cards. I love buying them, receiving them, stashing them, hoarding them for the apolcalypse, etc. Today while I was at my neighborhood postal store, I was perusing their greeting card section and found a card that is just awesome. It was in the "New Baby" section and read "How Is Your Va-Jay-Jay"..... Now that is a card that I would love to get post pregnancy, seriously. After you give birth its all about "how's the baby?", "are you getting enough sleep?", "how's motherhood treating you?" No one ever asks "how is your vag holding up after giving birth?" That is a traumatic event for a body part, and more attention should be given to said trauma.

Unfortunately, almost every woman I am friends with that has given birth in the last few years has had a C-section. Good for the vagina health, bad for sending out a greeting card with well wishes for a healthy vagina. Maybe I just need to find a card asking "How Is Your C-Section Scar" with a sample pack of Mederma included.

As for some history of the word va-jay-jay, I guess you can thank Grey's Anatomy, and the all knowing Oprah for that.

Zoo shots of Atti...........

I haven't been to the Woodland Park Zoo since I was in highschool. The last time I went was when I was a senior in highschool, with the Belgian exchange student, Didier. Didier was a strange character. I remember him making fun of my car, a blue Datsun Kingcab, and in my mind I was thinking...."you don't even have a car buddy, or a bike for that matter".......Then he wound up becoming really great friends with one of the only obviously gay guys we went to highschool with. Great story, huh? You want me to tell it again?

The photo below has to be one of my favorites from the zoo. It was taken while we stopped at a concession stand for a break and some food. And when I say food, I mean drippy nacho cheese that is surely clogging my arteries as I write this. Atticus was done eating and was exploring the picnic table area. You can't really tell in the picture but he is playing air piano on a plastic lawn chair. Maybe he'll be a musical genius. Maybe he already is.
Check out the chompers on this kid! He has eight teeth now, 4 on top and 4 on the bottom.

He appears to be in a food coma at this point. Too many cheese cubes, and apparently he's saving some crumbs for later.

Awesome shirt, huh? It was a gift from his even more awesome Aunt Jess. He's a badass and needs a t-shirt that reflects that quality. I don't know about you, but when I see a cartoon lightening bolt, I think "this is one kid I'm not going to mess with." I said oooh boy, shock me like an electric eel.

Here we are at the penguin tank. This joint was jumpin'. With people and penguins. I think Atticus was more interested in the water being pumped in to the tank than the actual penguins. It's the little things in life that make him happy. And that makes me happy.

I'll try anything once.......

I met up with Gina, Atticus, MB, and Lillianna today at the Woodland Park Zoo. I managed to stumble into the face painting booth, and $7 later I left with this on my face. I can't remember ever getting my face painted, so I figured it was about time it happened. What 32 year old doesn't need to experience this?

5 hours later I'm still decorated. I think I'll keep it for a few more hours. Maybe face painting will be my new thing.

Doubtful. But fun for a day.
