Let's wrap this up folks......

Alright, so this will be my last Pearl Jam blog post for awhile (I'm sure some of you are thanking your diety of choice right now.....). If you haven't checked out their new album, "Backspacer", I highly recommend it. I have a number of favorites....... Just Breathe, Amongst The Waves, Unthought Known, Supersonic, The End, and, of course, The Fixer.

This past tour I was on a huge Pearl Jam poster mission. In celebration of their awesome posters, I bought the book "Pearl Jam Vs. Ames Bros: 13 Years of Tour Posters"..... It's a 264 page book featuring over 200 posters. Love it. I remember getting my first Pearl Jam show posters a number of years ago when they played at Memorial Stadium in Seattle.
Here's a peak at a few posters of shows I didn't go to...... Love that Hawaii poster.
They also released bootleg cd's from their recent tour on their website. I decided to go for the the September 22, 2009 show because it was my favorite setlist of the three shows I was able to attend. I'm still bitter that I couldn't go to the show in Vancouver BC. This whole working thing is totally getting in the way of my Pearl Jam obsession. Next time I'm calling in and saying I have diarrhea. You really can't argue with diarrhea. Although I have such a hard time lying, I doubt I would be able to do it. I'd fear that I would actually get the worst case of diarrhea known to man because I faked diarrhea. Then I'd be known to myself and close friends as the girl who cried diarrhea.
Sweet Jesus.....check out the poster from the Vancouver BC show on 10/25/2009..... it is glorious. Love the color scheme. Luckily my awesome sister was able to score me one at the show. Did I mention she also had 5th row center seats? If I could have gone to the show, I, too, would have been sitting in the 5th row center, watching Eddie's sweat drip off his brow. Damn you adulthood! Damn you responsibility! Still bitter, still obviously so bitter.
The poster from the Vancouver, WA show was pretty sweet. We ended up getting to the show right when the doors opened at 5pm, in hopes that I would be blessed by the gods with a poster, and indeed, I was. There was a plethora of posters actually, I probably didn't need to get to the show 3 hours early, but better safe than sorry, ya know.
Wait a sec......how did that handsome boy get into the shot? He loves Pearl Jam as well. You know what else he loves? "Possibility" by Lykke Li, off The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). Yeah, I downloaded it off iTunes. I'm not ashamed.

I'm kinda bummed the Pearl Jam shows are over:( But guess what? I've got Built to Spill on deck.....November 20th at the Showbox at the Market. Can't wait!!

it's Pearl Jam week folks.....

On September 20th, Pearl Jam released their ninth studio album, "Backspacer". Despite the fact that I've been listening to, as well as blogging about, Kings of Leon the past few months, Pearl Jam remains my favorite band of all time. I've been listening to them religiously since the release of "Ten" back in 1991. Hard to believe that was 18 years ago! This week I am stoked because I get to see them three times....Monday, Tuesday at the Key Arena in Seattle, and Saturday at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Vancouver, WA. Yes, that is right folks, PJ is playing in The 'Couv!
The show on Tuesday night was absolutely awesome, while the show on Monday night seemed kinda bumpy. The setlist on Monday was just okay, while the Tuesday setlist was amazing. Admittedly, for myself, the bumpiness had quite a bit to do with the fact that they just released their new album on Sunday, and I only knew one song. Tuesday was also a monumental day for the band, it was their 50th show in Seattle.
Monday night setlist:
1. Long Road
2. Corduroy

Love, love, loved Tuesday night! The best part about the Monday show though? The poster. See below. It was my goal Monday night to get a poster for the show and luckily I was able to snag one right when I walked in the doors. It's of a sasquatch riding a wave. This one is getting framed for sure.
Tuesday night it was also my goal to get a show poster, and although I did accomplish said goal, the poster isn't as impressive as Monday's. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with this bad boy. I'm down with pirates, long beards, and typewriters, but put them all together with a strange color palate, and it didn't really come together as I had hoped. They can't all be winners, right?
Here's a shot taken by Kim L. She had kick ass seats for Tuesday's show, 4th or 5th row I think!

Ten Re-Issue

Someone has a Pearl Jam boner, and that person is me. I have loved this band since I was in 8th grade. For those of you counting, that was nearly 20 years ago...... I have seen them at least 12 times, and have had the pleasure of seeing them at the Showbox, and Benaroya Hall. How I ended up getting tickets to those small shows, I can not remember, but it probably has something to do with me being one lucky little lady, and having a sister that knows people who know people.
On March 24th, they re-released their album Ten, which is celebrating it's 20th anniversary here in the next year or two. The above photo is of the Ten Re-Issue Super Deluxe Edition that I sprung for today. Included in this pearlgasm worthy set is the following:
2 CDs, 1 DVD, 4 LPs, and 1 Cassette:
-Remaster of the original Ten album + remix by producer Brendan O'Brien
-DVD of a previously unreleased 1992 Pearl Jam MTV Unplugged performance
-LP of the band's 1992 "Drop in the Park" concert
-Replica of Pearl Jam three-song demo cassette with Eddie Vedder's original vocal dubs (not sure how I am ever going to play this as I haven't had a cassette player since 1992)
-Recreation of Eddie Vedder composition notebook (does this also come with a cashed bottle of expensive merlot?)
-Never before seen memorabilia (we'll see how cool that stuff is....I'm skep)
I can't wait for it to arrive in the mail!!!!! So excited, I might have to do a Balki Bartokomous Perfect Strangers style dance of joy after I open up the package.
In celebration of the Ten Re-Issue, I would like to take a moment for a Top Ten List, or let's just call it a Ten List. Because it is in no particular order. I don't like to play favorites with Pearl Jam songs, although Release and Given to Fly are always in the lead.
1. Given to Fly
2. Release
3. Strangest Tribe
4. Black
5. Low Light
6. Corduroy
7. Nothing As It Seems
8. Alive
9. In Hiding
10. Master of War (cover)
And of course I'll always love their cover of The Who's Baba O'Riley, and if I never hear them end a show with Yellow Ledbetter again, it will be too soon:)
One more thing...... this would make the perfect 32nd birthday gift..........
