Daily Photo Projects

I am not sure how I stumbled across Noah Kalina's photography project, but it is pretty phenomenal. He is a photographer, based out of New York, who has been taking a daily photo of himself since January 2000. Check out the photos below. It is incredible to watch how he changes over the course of over 6 years. The idea is really cool, and I would love to do it at some point. You can also check out Noah's blog here, and website here.

I discovered Jonathan Keller's daily photo project while exploring Noah's website. Jonathan is another New Yorker that has actually been doing his daily photo project for a few years longer than Noah. Pretty incredible. He has a sweet pirates mustache to boot. I love how it looks like it is flapping around in the wind in his video. Check out his website here, and his photo project below.

The Simpson's did a parody of Noah's daily photo project, it is pretty hilarious.

Inspirational

Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Happy Birthday, Tinner!!

Today is my big sis's 34th birthday!! I have called Christin, "Tin", for years. According to my mother, when I was little I couldn't pronounce all the letters of Chris's name, so Christin became "Tin". Since then, it has morphed into multiple variations....Tinny, Tinner, Tinski, etc. Even my friends refer to her as Tinny. It's quite funny to hear Foil ask..."How's Tinner and Mike?" I'm pretty sure Gina calls her Tinny most of the time as well. I love how the nickname has stuck, decades later.
I love this photo of Mike and Chris. It was taken in Canada, on a trip they made to visit Mike's family. They both look so great, and the sunset is gorgeous.
This is probably one of my favorite pictures of Chris and I. It was taken in 2005 (I think) at the Capital Club, for LeighAnn's birthday.

Chris came to visit me in California in June, it was a great weekend. We did a lot of relaxing and sightseeing. This picture was taken in the cactus garden at the Getty Museum. Some of my favorite Getty pictures are from this trip. It was also during Tin's trip to California where I discovered the hell and frustration that is LA traffic. I thought Seattle traffic was bad, it pales in comparison.
Today Tin and I are spending the day in Ballard, and I'm really looking forward to it. On the itinerary? Breakfast at The Dish on Leary (best Eggs Benedict in the city), then some boutique shopping in Ballard, followed by a movie at the Majestic Bay Theater (Burn After Reading, I think). Should be a super fun day!!!

New favorite spot

Frank has found a new favorite "spot" to hang out and sleep.....the new couch! Frank goes through phases where he will sleep in different areas of the house for weeks to months at a time, then he'll change spots all of a sudden. At this new house, he was mostly chillin' on the bed until a few weeks ago. Since the new couch has arrived, he rarely can be found elsewhere.
As you can see, he loves the back cushions. He looks comfortable, and he can see perfectly out the front window. Not bad.
Franks's cushion is like the human equivalent of a bean bag, no wonder he spends all his time there.

Lazy Sunday

Lazy Sunday is right. Couch, check. Lap Frank, check. Season 1 of Gossip Girl on the TV, check. I am a happy girl.

Carving Week

Fall has officially arrived! I turned the heat on in the house at the end of September, and the last few days I've even worn fingerless gloves in the house on occasion. I always feel like fall officially arrives around Halloween though. The air is always cold and crisp, and the leaves on the trees start turning brilliant colors of yellow, orange, and red. This week I carved some pumpkins to celebrate all things fall. Here is documentation of the fruits of my labor......

My three pumpkins. Nameless, but definitely not faceless.
Pumpkin carving effort #2: Casey and Kim's house on Saturday night. This guy almost lost a tooth during the procedure, but luckily Casey had some toothpicks to fix the problem.
Pumpking carving effort #3: Also Saturday night at the Hayes residence. Facial features: the old Halloween standby.....triangle eyes and crooked tooth smile.
Pumpkin carving effort #1: Thursday night at Gina's. Gina, MaryBeth, and I caught up whilst carving punkins. It was great to see MB, as I haven't seen her since I moved back to Seattle. Hopefully it won't be another year before I see her again!

I love this kid

Atticus turned 5 months old yesterday. The little guy is growing up fast!! Last night, Paula and I met up with Gina, Demian, and Atticus at her parent's house in Marysville. I made sure to bring my camera to get some shots of Atti. Here are some of my favorites......

Yearbook Yourself: The 60's

I had WAY too much fun yearbooking myself, as you can tell. Here are some glimpses of myself through a few decades.......
1960: I actually have a pair of glasses similar to that. But I won't be rockin' that hairdo anytime soon.
1962: What is going on up top? Part beehive, part bun, not sure what is happening but I'm going to roll with it.
1966: Not bad if I do say so myself. I might have to bring this picture in with me to Habitude for my next trim.
1968: This has to be my favorite hairdo of all time. Back combing anyone?

The 70's

1972: I think my mom had a wig like this when I was growing up.
1974: Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!
1978: Hell yeah!

The 80's

1984: Picture this....prom night.....
Pink taffeta dress: $85.00
Can of Aqua Net: $1.99
Loss of virginity to the highschool quarterback: priceless

The 90's

1994: Can I get some hairspray with that curling iron?
1996: I've always wondered what I'd look like as a blonde. I think I'll stick with the brunette thing.

1998: I just pledged Delta Delta Delta in this shot.

We demand a better future....

I like this, a lot.

Please stop.

That girl keeps taking my photo. She is such a pest.
Until I can figure out a way out of this place, I shall continue to plot her demise. Or just urinate on her camera.
Side note: I hardly ever notice Frank's clipped ear until I see pictures of him. You can really tell he has a half ear in that top shot! Poor little deformed bud..... I will continue to love you Frank, even though I have a hunch you are plotting against me.

So long sunny skies......

A few weekends ago I walked down to the Sunday Market in Ballard. I love a good Farmer's Market. The weather was awesome! I fear, after the rain and cloudy skies we have been having the past few days, our sunny skies are gone for awhile. Boo! Here are a couple photos I took during the afternoon.......
This structure can be found in that little park area on the corner of NW Market and Leary. I think there are four or five structures, this one is my favorite.
This photo is of the flags on display at the north and south end of the farmers market. I couldn't really capture how cool they looked in the sun and wind, but I tried.
Lots of peppers.....
Funky delivery truck.
I thought this sticker was pretty cool. The few times I have gotten on a skateboard, I've managed to injure myself somehow. But I totally respect the sport, and if it helps people stay sane, that makes it even more awesome.

My Friend Hamchan

Check out this cool bag Kyle and Cynthia brought me back from their trip to Singapore and Tokyo.... I have been using it pretty much every day for the past few weeks. It is the perfect size for running errands or heading down to the Farmer's Market. Not too big, not too small. Just right.
I love the phrases that are sometimes included on products from Asia. Like on this package of tissues...My Friend Hamchan. Love it. Who is this little guy, Hamchan, and how can I become friends with him?
Another great phrase from recent history..... Always Happiness Smile Monkey. It is a t-shirt sent to Corey from her friend that lives in Hong Kong. And it is awesome.
